Severe weather hits Siouxland; Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Nebraska

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Severe weather is hitting Siouxland.

( 4:12 p.m.): NWS has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for western Sac and Crawford Counties until 4:45 p.m.

The NWS at 4:01 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Charter Oak, or 9 miles northwest of Denison, moving northeast at 35 mph.

The radar-indicated storm may produce 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees

(3:10 p.m.): NWS has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southcentral Madison, northern Platte, and southeastern Boone County . The warning is until 3:45 p.m.

NWS said at 3 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near St. Edward, or 13 miles southeast of Albion, moving northeast at 35 mph.

The radar indicated the storm may possibly produce 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

The below warning has expired .

(2:41 p.m.): The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northwestern Madison, southeastern Antelope, and northeastern Boone counties until 3 p.m.

At 2:34 p.m., the NWS said that a thunderstorm was located 7 miles south of Tilden, or 16 miles southeast of Neligh, moving northeast at 20 mph.

The radar-indicated storm may produce 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

“Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees,” the warning stated.

Anyone in the impacted area is asked to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building for protection.

Additionally, northwest Iowa counties have been place in a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9 p.m. Counties included in the watch include, Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickenson, O’Brien Osceola, and Plymouth. The watch was also issued for larger parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
