COLLEGE STATION (KDAF) — Texas A&M’s Emmy-award winning TV show, “Around Texas With Chancellor John Sharp,” is back for season five to highlight more hidden gems within the university system.

“We wanted to create it because the Texas A&M system is very different from every other system in higher education, almost in the country, and certainly in Texas,” Sharp said. “Because we not only have 11 universities, but we also have eight state agencies ranging everywhere from taking care of forests to putting out fires to rebuilding after hurricanes.”

One of the episodes in the upcoming season features an ocelot, a medium-sized spotted wild cat. There are only 200 left in the wild, so Texas A&M Kingsville is working on a facility that will help breed and release these cats back into the wild in South Texas to help with conservation efforts.

Another episode analyzes the long history of rivalry between the Aggies and University of Texas Longhorns, while another will dive deep into the university’s partnership with NASA.

For more information, watch the full segment above, and be sure to catch “Around Texas With Chancellor John Sharp” starting October 12 at 10 a.m. on CW33!
