KEITHVILLE, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) — A Georgia man was arrested after he turned himself in for a fatal hit and run Thursday.

According to a press release, Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Jeremy Edward arrested 43-year-old Anthony Ebizie.

Officials say on Thursday around midnight, Caddo Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a fatal hit and run on Highway 789 near Elaine Drive, which resulted in the death of James Michael Evans of Keithville. Evidence at the scene suggested that a large truck traveling northbound on Highway 789 swerved into the southbound lane, striking the victim before leaving the scene without reporting the accident.

Shortly after, another vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 789 hit the victim, who was lying in the southbound lane. The driver of the second vehicle stopped immediately and called 911.

Ebizie was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for hit and run, resulting in serious bodily injury or death.
