Evanstonian vying for gold medal in unicycle basketball
You may have seen Evanstonian Kyle Campbell riding along the lakefront on his 7-foot-tall giraffe unicycle. He does this while juggling. He mounts the uni (Campbell’s preferred term) by standing on the ledge of his front porch. Campbell rides the vehicle for fun and relaxation. His website includes many videos, most from passersby who send them to him.

Michigan gymnast reaches new heights by making USA Olympic team
Michigan’s Paul Juda was on the fringe entering the United States men’s gymnastics Olympic trials June 27 and 29 in Minneapolis. The Deerfield, Illinois native picked a good time to have the meet of his life. He accomplished what he set out to do during the two-day event with zero falls and hitting all his routines. Juda finished fourth in the all-round and top-five in four events: floor (second), pommel horse (third), vault (fourth), and high bar (fifth). His Olympic dream was now left in the hands of the selection committee, who used an algorithm based on scores from the U.S. Championships and Olympic trials to determine the five members and two alternates who will represent the U.S. in Paris July 26-Aug. 11.

The storied history of Illinois’ in-state rivalry
Since covering the Illibuck a few weeks ago, and in the process linking back to my 2021 story on the Purdue Cannon, I realized I might as well finish off this impromptu rivalry series while I’m on a roll. Which, of course, brings us to the Northwestern Wildcats. Both...

Each Monday this summer, we’re looking at Northwestern football’s opponents for the upcoming 2024 season. This week, we look at Indiana, the Wildcats’ opponent in week six after the bye week. The Hoosiers were one of the worst teams in the Big Ten in 2023, winning just one conference matchup in an upset victory at home against Wisconsin. Northwestern hosts Indiana on October 5, in what will be the first game on the lakefront with students on campus.
More bike racks at OPRF
It has come to my attention that there is an utmost lack of student bike stands surrounding the high school. As a student at OPRF, I faced the issue of limited bike spots often and in most cases I had to squeeze in. With the addition of more bike racks near all entrances, students like me will be able to have enough space to lock our bikes in the morning without having to press in.
