Nearly 30 Areas Being Surveyed As Potential Tornado Tracks This Morning
It was an incredible weather event yesterday. Our entire area, at one point or another, was under a tornado warning, and I can’t remember if that’s ever happened before. A handful of tornadoes have already been confirmed, but since it all happened under the cover of darkness and rain, it was impossible to say how many actually occurred. Safe to say…it was A LOT!
Earthquake Shakes Illinois: Shocking Footage Inside (Video)
A 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck Northern Illinois early this morning. The earthquake occurred a little before 3 a.m. in Southern DeKalb County, near the town of Somonauk. The earthquake was felt in various locations including Winthrop Harbor, Cary, and Yorkville. Heather and Cory were awakened by the quake, initially mistaking it for a storm. Marcia in Winthrop Harbor reported feeling her house shake. A resident in Cary noticed the loud and rumbly noise, distinguishing it from thunder. Dan in Yorkville also felt the earthquake.
Tuesday’s ‘paint out’ winner
David R. Becker shows off his winning painting from Tuesday’s “paint out” at Evanston’s Plein Air Festival. A record 28 painters created scenes from downtown. Becker, an illustrator, artist and art instructor from Long Lake, chose to depict the restaurant Trattoria D.O.C. at 706 Main St. “I almost didn’t finish because people kept coming at me constantly,” he said. NU to use lakefill as tailgating space for home football games

Incoming PA Program Students Participate in White Coat Ceremony
On Friday, June 21, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program’s Class of 2026 celebrated the beginning of their medical journey with a white coat ceremony. The newly formed class comes to Feinberg from 15 different states and collectively hold degrees from 27 different academic institutions across 14 different undergraduate majors. They are joining Feinberg with an average of two years of patient care experience.

Strong winds cause damage around Oak Park
At about 9:30 p.m. Monday, a tornado warning blared on Oak Park resident phones, telling them to shelter in place until 10 p.m. Tornado warnings were in effect throughout parts of Illinois at the same time, including portions of Will, Kendall, Grundy, northern DuPage and Cook County and in Chicago, according to the National Weather Service Chicago.
