KENILWORTH, NJ – Recently the Knights of Columbus (KoC) Council 6386 of St. Rose of Lima Church in Short Hills, NJ, held their Annual Scholarship Golf Outing at the picturesque Galloping Hill Golf Course. The event saw over 40 enthusiastic golfers, along with generous sponsors and supporters, come together for a day of golfing with a shared mission of supporting the KoC Scholarship Fund.

KoC Golf Outing Chairman, Daniel Cannon, expressed his satisfaction with the event, stating, "Interestingly, this day was a hole-in-one for all who participated. We had fun in the sun while making a real difference in the lives of deserving students."

Cannon added, "The scholarship fund is more critical than ever, as the cost of college tuition continues to rise, placing a significant financial burden on students and their families." According to recent data, the average annual cost of tuition and fees for the 2023-2024 school year was $37,600 at private colleges, $10,560 for state residents at public colleges, and $27,020 for out-of-state students attending public universities. These figures highlight the importance of initiatives like the KoC Scholarship Fund in making higher education accessible to students.

The event's success was due in large part to the collective efforts of all participants. The golfers enjoyed the beautiful course, perfect weather, and the camaraderie of friends, coworkers, and fellow community members. Sponsors' support was essential in ensuring the event achieved its scholarship fundraising goal once again.

As the day concluded, there was a strong sense of gratification at the annual celebratory luncheon. "All understood that their morning of golf significantly alleviated some of the financial pressure that comes with pursuing higher education," said Cannon.

If you are interested in supporting the scholarship fund with a donation or joining the KoC, please email Daniel Cannon at koc.6386.golf.outing@gmail.com for more information. The KoC suggests that you mark your calendar for next year and make Memorial Day a four-day weekend by joining them on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, again at Galloping Hill.
