DALLAS, Texas — Former Texas State Representative Jim Pitts passed away shortly before midnight on July 20, 2024, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, surrounded by his loved ones. Jim Pitts dedicated his life to public service, representing House District 10 in the Texas House of Representatives from 1993 to 2015. His district comprised Ellis County, Hill County, and a portion of Henderson County. During his tenure, he served as Chairman of Appropriations from 2005 to 2007 and from 2009 to 2015. Representative Pitts was known for his commitment to education, fiscal responsibility, and advocating for the needs of his constituents.

North Texas landed its fifth recruitment for the 2025 class as Jaden Manning, a versatile threat from Mansfield Legacy (Texas), announced his decision to join the Mean Green. During his junior year in Mansfield, Manning played linebacker and running back. He recorded 26 tackles across eight games, averaging 3.3 tackles per game. Dallas police continue investigation into 2012 murder of Samuel Nanaeto
DALLAS, Texas — The Dallas Police Department continues to investigate the 2012 murder of 22-year-old Samuel Nanaeto. On September 23, 2012, Nanaeto and an unknown suspect were involved in a fight at a business in the 8500 block of Stemmons Freeway. The investigation determined Nanaeto left the scene and was involved in another fight in the 8800 block of N. Stemmons Freeway, where he was found shot to death. Further investigation revealed a four-door white vehicle, possibly a Chevy Avalanche, driven by a Latin male, was seen at the second location and was possibly involved, according to the Dallas Police Department.
