KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Kennewick police and fire officials are investigating a fire that damaged two homes and a car Thursday night.

Officials said fire crews responded to the call for help just before 10 p.m. in the 6700 Block of West Fourth Avenue.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Michael Heffner, the cause of the fire can't be determined because it was burned out. However, the fire is considered suspicious because of fireworks in the area. Heffner said the Kennewick police department is investigating possible arson.

When crews arrived, fire officials said the vegetation decor between two home was on fire, damaging both homes. Fire officials said one home had charred wood and the other had some melted sliding. A car was also damaged by the fire.

As firefighters were battling the blaze, embers from a small bush were seen falling to the ground. Firefighters were digging in the grass and spraying the area with water.

It's unknown the estimated cost of the damages or if anyone was hurt.
