A man died after being shot at a Kennewick apartment complex on Saturday afternoon.

He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. The man’s identity has not been released, pending notification of family.

An autopsy is planned Thursday or Friday, according to the Benton County Coroner’s Office.

The complex is just north of WinCo foods and the intersection of West Clearwater Avenue and North Union Street.

In March the city of Kennewick passed a new ‘No sit-lie’ ordinance for a one-mile stretch of Clearwater and the neighborhoods to the north and south, which includes the Crown Village apartment complex. That area saw more 911 calls than anywhere else in the city in 2022.

The shooting remains under investigation and a suspect has not been identified at this time.

Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident, but are asking for anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be made by calling the non-emergency number at 509-628-0333 or anonymously online at www.kpdtips.com.
