Kent Jaycees' Grill for Good fundraiser set Aug. 10

Kent Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) plans its annual Grill for Good fundraiser from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 10 at Hometown Bank Plaza in downtown Kent, 142 N. Water St.

Grill for Good is Kent's only professional and non-professional foodie competition. The event lets cooks compete in a grilling cookoff with both meat and non-meat categories.

Winners in 2023 included:

• First place, Kent Fire Department.
• Second place, Family and Community Services.
• Third place, Kent Elks Lodge #1377.
• People's choice, Davey Tree.

Event attendees get to join the judges in tasting the entries and enjoying the craft beers available and the many bands performing live.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Skeels-Mathews Community Center in Ravenna and Hope Town Ohio in Windham.
