In the news lately, there has been a rise in a type of crime called “jugging,” which has caused concern among law enforcement officials. My attention was brought to it when Maryland reported a disturbing number of cases in June and July. As I delved into the topic, I discovered that the trend has been appearing in various parts of the country. Although there have been no documented cases of jugging in Southern Indiana, the FBI is advising everyone to stay alert and attentive to their surroundings, as these types of crimes can potentially spread.
Arts for Lawrence awarded Indiana Arts Commission grant
The Indiana Arts Commission announced July 25 that it awarded more than $16,000 to Arts for Lawrence through its Arts Organization Support grant program. “We are incredibly excited and grateful to receive this grant from the Indiana Arts Commission,” Arts for Lawrence Executive Director Elana Thompson stated in an email. “This support will enable us to enhance our programming and engage more deeply with the community.
