Up to thirteen high school juniors from local high schools will be selected to serve on the Kankakee Valley REMC's Junior Board of Directors. The program takes place from October to May, with the students meeting monthly for field trips and leadership experiences. Mother with kids in vehicle faces charges after leading police in pursuit topping 120 mph
LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. (WSBT) — A Westville woman allegedly led police on a lengthy vehicle chase topping 120 miles per hour with her children riding along with her on Monday. Samantha Jo Ravenscroft, 33, was charged with resisting law enforcement, battery to a law enforcement officer, possession of methamphetamine, criminal recklessness and two counts of neglect of a dependent.

Valparaiso to Eliminate Philosophy Program
Students at Valparaiso University will no longer be able to choose philosophy as a major or minor, according to a plan announced by the school’s president, José Padilla. The philosophy major and minor are two of several programs being cut. According to the NWI Times, the cuts are a response to decreased student enrollment at the Christian university.

Defense files 3 motions on first day of Delphi hearings
DELPHI, Ind. — The first of three hearings in the Delphi murders case began Tuesday. Defense attorney’s for suspect Richard Allen filed several motions in the case. The first motion filed Tuesday was to have Allen moved from solitary confinement in the Indiana Department of Corrections to the Cass County Jail. They believe it would improve Allen’s mental state.
