A man died in police custody Sunday after he was arrested when he scuffled with firefighters and police, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. Joseph Lawson, 43, was the second person to die in the past week while in police custody. Both were hospitalized at the time they died, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Davie, FL - A peaceful Sunday morning turned tragic when a 19-year-old jogger was struck by lightning at Vista View Park in Davie, leading to his untimely death. The victim, identified as Ethan Lawrence, a resident of Broward County, was out for his regular run when the incident occurred. Davie Police officers responded to a 911 call shortly before 11 a.m. about a person down, possibly struck by lightning.
