It has been 47 years since the king of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, was confirmed dead after slumping in his bathroom at Graceland; however, it appears some fans are still in a fix about the truth. A recent post claiming that he is alive and well in Kentucky has sparked a conversation about the late icon on Facebook.

A certain Jeff Jeffroe Kelly started the talk on a Facebook page named The Somerset Insider, with an introduction that reads, “This is a parody and satire publication. As much as we wish these stories were true, they’re not.”

Jeff’s post claimed that John Burroughs of Lake Cumberland, Kentucky was Elvis, and while this false news caused a bit of a stir in the city, the Facebook page members were a good sport about it. John was described as an 89-year-old recluse with Elvis-like features, who hums ‘Love Me Tender’ while chopping wood.

The narration added that John responds to claims of him being Elvis with a reminiscent smile and wiggling of the hips, explaining that he is just a simple man loving his space. He then puts on a snazzy white jumpsuit and heads out for an evening stroll.

Facebook users were quick to point out the inconsistencies in the accompanying image, calling it AI-generated and doubling down on the joke. “Looks great for a 90 year old AI image!” one commended. “It’s him, nice guy, had coffee with him last week,” another jested.

It was delightfully humorous to witness how much impact Elvis still leaves behind decades after his demise, with a fanbase that keeps his musical legacy evergreen. His brand and name are still being appreciated by members of the old and newer generation, who never even met him, through recreations, music covers/samples, and Elvis acts within the U.S. and beyond.
