A new Main Event is being built at Woodland Mall at 3195 28th St SE in Kentwood . The entertainment complex features laser tag, interactive video games, bowling, arcade games, and billiards, and comes with a restaurant, a bar, and private rooms. The location is anticipated to open in Summer 2024.

Main Event has locations across the United States. The Dallas-based entertainment brand was acquired by Dave & Buster’s in 2022. After the merger, both will continue to operate as independent brands but overseen by a joint team. Chris Morris, CEO of Main Event since 2020, took the helm of the new company after the merger. There were also rumors that some Dave & Buster’s locations may be transitioned into Main Event locations according to previous reporting , but nothing is confirmed.

Kentwood’s Woodland Mall will be the chain’s first Michigan location. Construction began last fall on the 49,000-square-foot building sitting on a separate piece of land near Von Maur , independent from the Woodland Mall property. Although Woodland Mall’s parent company has filed for bankruptcy, Main Event’s development remains unimpacted. The project is moving forward steadily and still aims to open in the summer.
