Brownsville Recreation Center (BRC) To Get $160 Million Investment To Turn It Into A Brand New State of the Art Facility
New York City Mayor, Eric Adams, recently announced one of the major highlights of the city’s 2025 budget, the $160 million investment to completely rebuild the 70-year-old Brownsville Recreation Center, providing a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in Brooklyn. This comes on top of previous investments, such as the Parks Opportunity Program (POP), which offers low-income New Yorkers six-month paid opportunities and training programs to help maintain and operate city parks. Additionally, the budget allocates $15 million to hire 240 full-time maintenance and operations staff to provide a second shift of cleaning services at 100 hotspots in 62 public parks across all five boroughs.

Reservations are now open for the summer 2024 NYC Restaurant Week, the New York City Tourism + Conventions announced Tuesday. Restaurant Week hits the five boroughs on July 22 and runs through August 18, with some restaurants extending the menu through the beginning of September. Participating establishments will offer two-course lunches and three-course dinners for $30, $45, or $60.

Historic Ship La Amistad Will Soon Dock in Kingston
KINGSTON – Hudson River Maritime Museum announced that it will host the Amistad Saturday, August 3-Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at their Kingston Waterfront campus. The 129-foot schooner is a replica of the 19th century ship, La Amistad, which became widely known for the 1839 uprising of enslaved captives from Sierra Leone who overthrew the crew and commandeered the ship into waters off the coast of New York. FREEHOLD — Former Wall High School teacher Julie Rizzitello will return to court next Tuesday to face charges related to a sexual relationship she is accused of having with her former student after she was brought up on two new charges when she appeared in court today.
