    Man shot, killed at Kernersville Food Lion on Union Cross Road, police say; suspect charged with murder

    KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — Kernersville police say a man was charged with murder after a fatal shooting at a Piedmont Triad grocery store.

    Around 10:41 a.m., officers with the Kernersville Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at the Food Lion on 1535 Union Cross Rd.

    Arriving officers found a man, later identified as Marco Antonio Vargas Arellano, 40, of Burlington, in the building. He had been shot multiple times.

    Medical officials pronounced him dead at the scene.

    Dillon Randolph Kiger, 38, of Kernersville, was charged with general murder.

    He was taken to the Forsyth County Detention Center and is being held on no bond.

    Kernersville Police Department described the situation as “isolated” with “no threat to the public” on their Facebook story.
