This day in weather history: Guadalupe River floods its banks, killing 10
COMFORT, Texas – Thirty-seven years ago, a flash flood resulted in one of the worst tragedies to ever strike the Texas Hill Country. On the night of July 16, 1987, just outside Comfort, the kids at Pot O’ Gold Christian Camp were settling in for their final night of the retreat, while 30 miles up the Guadalupe River, at the other end of Kerr County, heavy rainfall would turn what had been a sleepy river into a wall of water.

KCSO nabs suspect after long pursuit
An investigation into a possible online predator resulted in a high-speed pursuit for 33 miles and the arrest of a 33-year-old Pipe Creek man. According to Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha, Kerr County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division deputies began an investigation into a male subject suspected of online solicitation on Friday, June 21.

Leo (left) is a little charmer. This adorable three-year-old chihuahua mix tips the scales at just over 10 pounds, making him the perfect pint-sized companion. Leo’s adventure began in December 2023 when he was found wandering the streets of Center Point and brought to us by animal control. Shortly after the New Year, Leo found his way into a loving home, but due to circumstances beyond his control, he’s back with us, eagerly awaiting his forever family. Practice fireworks safety this July 4
Tomorrow is the Fourth of July and along with New Year’s Eve is the most potentially dangerous time for fireworks usage in Kerr County. With the current drought conditions local officials are urging people to attend the public fireworks show at Louise Hayes Park and refrain from using the other fireworks in unsafe conditions.

KCVB launches Pop-Up Art Gallery at center
The Kerrville Convention & Visitors Bureau has launched a pop-up gallery featuring artwork by local artists. This marks the beginning of a new initiative with the Community Arts Program to incorporate more art into the Kerrville Visitor Center experience. Phyllis and Douglas Garey, long established Kerr County artists will be the first to showcase their work now through November.
