TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) – A longtime Tyler based company offering a variety of home and lawn care services suddenly shut its doors last week. Now, the owners of a local excavation company say they intend to take over.

The sudden closure of Salcido Home Solutions caught some Nextdoor users off guard, who were posting about it on the social media platform. This change also left many employees without a job.

On August 26th, the owner, Marvin Salcido, sent out an email to customers, filled with what he called the hardest words he’s ever written.

The email said in part, “We can no longer sustain operations under the heavy weight of the debt that we incurred”.

The owners of another company, 4W Excavation, Jesse Memmel and Blake Weaver said they found out on Thursday that Salcido was selling all of its vehicles and saw it as an opportunity to expand their business.

“We’re gonna jump in there and take care of these customers and run it the right way,” Weaver said.

Eventually, they learned Salcido’s business was shutting down entirely, but he said the reason why remains a mystery.

“I don’t really know that answer,” Memmel said. “I just know that he was forced to do so.”

Memmel and Weaver decided to take over the operations, but when they showed up, they said employees had already left.

“We’ve had no contact with the employees. I have had a few come back to the yard, and I brought them back on,” Weaver said.

Moving forward, they hope to establish transparency with previous customers and employees.

“We want to repair any relationship that was messed up that we didn’t have a part of. We’d like to take it to the next level when it’s under our ownership,” Weaver explained.

As far as the future of the company, they plan to continue most of the same home and lawn care services as before.

“As well, we’re going to do some dirt work and different things of that nature,” Memmel added.

For now, they’re working to get the company back on track.

“We’re about to start on the calls for everybody that was in the system that would have had a service scheduled. We’re going to reach out individually and see if they’d like to keep that service going,” Memmel said.

They encourage anyone with questions to stop by their office, and they’d be happy to have a conversation.

Memmel and Weaver are not the official owners yet, but they say they have signed a letter of intent.

KETK reached out to the original owner, and he said he did not want to comment at this time.
