Mosaic Counseling opens call for student mural artists

TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) – Mosaic Counseling is looking for middle school or high school students to paint a mural for their Center of Excellence for Youth and Families.

According to a release, Mosaic is looking for young artists to contribute to their facility with a mural that represents “integration of mind, body, spirit and community and the story of wellbeing, mental health and thriving for young people.”

Mosaic encourages student artists to enter because their art could inspire others, have their painting supplies paid for, obtain service hours and win a $250 gift card.

The counseling center outlined the process and requirements to apply as the following:

• Email katherine@mosaicetx.org the following information with the subject line “Mosaic Mural Application”
  • Name
  • Age
  • Email address and school(s) of the individual artist or group of students (up to five)
  • A short paragraph about the artist(s)
  • Contact information for an adult sponsor who will oversee the project
  • Basic sketch of the idea
  • Story behind your mural and how it connects to mental health
• Deliver an in-person painted mockup of the mural on a medium larger than printer paper but smaller than a poster to 100 E. Ferguson St. Suite 602

The deadline to enter is Oct. 1, Mosaic said. Any additional questions can be emailed to the same email used for submissions.
