Indiana man accused of running illegal bar out of home, could see 2.5 years in prison
A northwest Indiana man has been arrested over accusations that he operated a full-service bar out of his home. Authorities said Scott Meece, of La Porte, Ind., ran the Iron Horse Saloon from an addition placed on his home.
Stevie Sussex had fire at Lincoln Park Speedway; in a burn unit
Sprint Car driver Stevie Sussex had a fire in his vehicle on Friday at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Indiana. He was competing during the Indiana Sprint Week. Sussex was competing in the race with Tyler Sturgeon Racing. According to the Lincoln Park Speedway website, this was the USAC Indiana Sprint Week 2024 Opener.
Arts Commission invests in Lubeznik Center for the Arts to strengthen Michigan City through arts and creativity
Yesterday, the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced it has awarded $18,215 to Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) through the Arts Organization Support grant program. During its June 14 Quarterly Business Meeting, the Commission approved funding recommendations for the Arts Project Support and Arts Organization Support grant programs. Between the two grant programs, 338 organizations in 77 Indiana counties are receiving funding.

Westfield veteran calls for change to property tax law
A Westfield veteran has started a grassroots campaign to lobby elected leaders at the state level to increase the property tax deduction for veterans in Indiana. Mike Madigan served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. An Illinois native who lived in Wisconsin before moving to Indiana in 2020, Madigan said when he moved to Westfield, he was surprised to find the property tax exemption in the Hoosier State is far different from what was available in Wisconsin.
