OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) – Two things are top of mind for Oklahomans this time of year: Football and fashion.

“Definitely getting to pick out the outfit and the boots that go with it,” said Kaitlyn Crain, when asked about her favorite part of gameday. She’s a student at the University of Oklahoma. “I love playing cowgirl for a day… Just everything super extra.”

Meanwhile, Matthew Wohlschlegel enjoys spending his Saturday’s in Stillwater.

“It’s got to be orange and black, that’s it,” said Wohlsclegel. “Doesn’t matter what it is. It’s gotta be orange and black.”

KFOR talked with experts all over the state to find out what’s in style this season. Let’s start with the basics.

“If you don’t have a white dress, you need to get one. That’s a staple here,” said Avery Phillips, who works at Lucca in Norman . “And denim. Denim is a really big one.”

Reghann Leach, who also works at Lucca in Norman suggests pairing the white dress with red boots.

This year, animal print has made its return as well.

Graphic tees are also trendy right now. At Chris’s University Spirit in Stillwater, they’re printing hundreds everyday.

“Starts off with just a blank shirt and we just add the layers,” said Dustin MacDonald. “We’re always trying to come up with new designs.”

For the men, polos are timeless.

“You’re going to see thousands of people wearing polos,” said Logan Edwards of Rally House Edmond . “It’s simple but it’s very stylish I would say.”

You can also spice up your look with hats, bows, botts and arguably the most popular item: buttons.

“The buttons are always a good little way to put your own spin on the outfits,” said Carrie Boevers, of Lush Fashion Lounge .

Some say OU moving to the SEC just means the glitzier, the better.

“Taller boots. A lot more bling. Fluffier dresses,” said Crain.

Helen Wolney of The Apothem on Campus Corner in Norman said she’s already sold a ton of blingy items.

“This year I have more than ever glittery stuff coming in,” said Wolney. “I think there’s a lot of excitement around there for women to dress up a little bit more.”
