YUKON, Okla. ( KFOR ) — Rock the Route is back this year in Yukon, so grab your friends and family to get ready for a night full of live music and fun!

“It’s basically like the biggest block party you’ve ever been to. Right on the mother road,” said Jenna Roberson, the Public Information Officer for Yukon.

Rock the Route has been a Yukon staple since 2016.

“This year, we’re so excited to welcome Corey Kent as our headliner. He’s going to put on a great show. And then special guests Grant Gilbert and Cam Allen will be joining him in,” said Roberson.

City leaders said last year 8,000 people attended the big night and believe this year could even be bigger.

There are three headliners, food trucks, and a dedicated kids zone for the younger Rock the Route fans.

“One of the things this year we have is a 360 degree photo booth. I think they’ll really enjoy that as well as the grown ups, too. We also have like a nerf blaster shooting galleries. So they’re going to have a lot of fun with that. We always have a rock wall and mechanical bull, so that’s going to be a lot of fun as well,” said Roberson.

Rock the Route will take over Route 66 in Yukon between 4th and 5th streets.

“It’s just so special that we get to celebrate Route 66 in this way because it’s such a big part of our community. It’s our main street. So the main street of the us is the main street of Yukon,” said Roberson.

City officials said the easiest parking will be in Dickinson Park and there will be shuttles available to the event. Unfortunately, they said they will not be able to provide shuttles after the event due to the large crowds of people leaving.

They also want attendees to know that there will be a high police presence at the event as well.

“Our Yukon Police Department really does a great job at making sure that they cover every angle of this event and you’ll see them patrolling,” said Roberson.

Rock the Route is Thursday, August 29 form 6-11 p.m. on Route 66 in Downtown Yukon.
