A local assistance center, located at 6401 Lake Isabella Boulevard, will be open Aug. 10 to support residents impacted by the Borel Fire. Free childcare will be available for those aged 10 and younger, according to organizers.

The fire started on July 24 when a driver crashed his vehicle down an embankment near Democrat Road starting a fire that quickly spread to the mountainside. The fire has burned 59,288 acres and is at 84% containment.
