Bakersfield College introduces 7 new coaches during press conference

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bakersfield College Athletics is starting off the new school year with plenty of new faces.

A press conference held in the Renegade Event Center Aug. 14 was dedicated to the introduction of new coaches within the athletic program at BC. The addition of seven coaches in one hiring period was the most in the history of the athletic program. Greg McCall was named head coach of the men’s basketball team after 13 years of coaching at Cal State Bakersfield.

Kurt Townson is taking over as head coach of the baseball team. Townson coached with longtime BC skipper Tim Painton and was a crucial part in the development of what the BC baseball program is today. BC also announced Grant Bingham is returning to be the head coach of the women’s basketball program.

BC also hired the following coaches during the offseason:

• Nick Kaiser — Head Coach, Men’s & Women’s Golf
• Edgar Linares — Head Coach, Women’s Soccer
• Cesar Mireles — Head Coach, Cross Country
• Konrad Dahl — Interim Track and Field Coach
