Free agent former Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook is signing with the Dallas Cowboys , his agency, Loyalty Above All, confirmed to NFL Network 's Tom Pelissero on Wednesday (August 28).

Cook, 29, will reunite with Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer , his former head coach during his first five NFL seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

"Four-time Pro Bowl RB Dalvin Cook is signing with the #Cowboys , per his agency LAA. Cook was waiting for the right opportunity and always felt it was Dallas. A marquee addition in Big D," Pelissero wrote on his X account. "The 4x Pro Bowl RB worked out for the #Cowboys on Tuesday. Now Cook reunites with his former #Vikings coach, Mike Zimmer, and teams up with [head coach] Mike McCarthy, who dealt with him for years in the NFC North."

Cook signed with the New York Jets prior to a mutually agreed departure after 15 games, having been limited to just 214 yards on 67 carries. The veteran running back signed with the Baltimore Ravens after clearing waivers and recorded 23 yards on eight rushing attempts during the playoffs.

Cook finished his six-season tenure in Minnesota as the franchise's third all-time leading rusher behind Adrian Peterson and Robert Smith with 5,993 yards, while also recording 47 touchdowns in 73 regular season games. The former Florida State University standout recorded 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns on 264 carries while appearing in all 17 regular season games, as well as the Vikings' Wild Card Round playoff loss, in 2022, marking the fourth consecutive season in which he recorded more than 1,000 rushing yards.
