Out of the five high school lacrosse programs in the Santa Clarita Valley, only one continues to fight on in the CIF playoffs.

The Hart Indians made history this year by winning their first-ever Foothill League title, but they’re not ready to close out the season just yet.

    Hart (14-3, 7-1)

The Saugus Centurions clinched their fourth straight Foothill League title this year, but this time, they shared their glory with the Hart Indians.

The match that propelled them to victory was decided by a mere goal against West Ranch.

Last Wednesday, Hart narrowly avoided defeat against the Wildcats in an 8-7 win that ultimately solidified their spot at the top of the Foothill League chart.

During the match, freshman Max Smith scored four goals for the Indians, but it was senior Blake Osoria’s last goal that determined Hart’s victory.

The Indians survived the first round of the CIF playoffs against Corona (16-5, 2-3) with a score of 15-6 on Wednesday.

So far, the team has seen 211 goals, 109 assists and 320 points.

Senior Tate Fuller contributed to the team’s successes with 77 goals and 27 assists.

Fuller also committed to BYU to continue his academic and athletic career there.

Junior goalie Beau Vought had 149 saves this season to keep the Indians on top as well.

Hart is expected to venture deeper into playoffs with their next game scheduled against Oak Park (11-7, 8-0) on Friday at 5 p.m.

    Saugus (11-9, 7-1)

Although the Centurions shared the league title with the Indians, their run was cut short on Wednesday after suffering an 11-15 loss against Sierra Canyon (8-5, 2-3).

Their only league loss was against their co-title holders, Hart, with a score of 9-15.

Senior Parker Teel led the Centurions this year with 3.5 goals per game and 46 takeaways.

Senior Wyatt Notch contributed with 3.3 goals per game, 1.9 assists per game and 60 goals.

Lastly, senior goalie Matthew Hollenbaugh racked in 206 saves.

All three seniors committed to play at the collegiate level — Teel to Concordia University-Irvine, Notch to the Dominican University of California and Hollenbaugh to William Penn University.

The team totaled 213 goals, 171 assists and 384 points.

    West Ranch (6-10, 4-4)

The Wildcats fell to Great Oak (13-6, 6-4) during the first round of playoffs with a score of 5-8 on Monday.

During the season, senior Ryan Donell averaged 2.3 goals per game and had 60 shots on goal.

Sophomore Greyson Foster achieved a 3.000 shot percentage and Zain Dhar had 191 saves.

West Ranch scored 109 goals with 39 assists and 148 points this year.

    Valencia (6-10, 2-6)

The Vikings were defeated 6-17 by Notre Dame (11-8, 1-5) in a non-league match last Friday.

Senior Alex Le Baut averaged 3.4 goals per game and scored 27 goals.

Senior goalie Daniel Acosta racked in 123 saves and senior Eric Sanders had 56 ground balls.

Both Acosta and Sanders have signed with the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Valencia saw 119 goals, 52 assists and 171 points.

    Castaic (6-12, 0-8)

Lastly, the Coyotes dropped their last game to Hart on April 17 with a score of 3-18.

Senior Ryan Lee led in goals with 4.0 goals per game and 56 scored — he committed to the Dominican University of California.

Senior goalie Noah Bobadilla had 138 saves this season and verbally committed to Moorpark College.

The Coyotes had a total of 95 goals, 48 assists and 143 points.
