Hart Baseball Names New Head Coach Following Ozella’s Retirement

At the beginning of the season, Jim Ozella announced his intention to retire after 25 years with the program and days after Hart High School’s championship win, the team announced his replacement.

Coming in to take over at the helm is former Hart baseball coach Brad Meza. Most recently, Meza was the head coach at Valencia High School, where he led the Vikings to a Foothill League Championship in 2023.

Prior to his stint with the Vikings, Meza coached on the freshman and varsity levels at Hart from 2018 to 2021.

“Brad was a major contributor to the 2014 and 2015 Foothill League champion Hart Baseball team, who were CIF Southern Section finalists during his senior year,” stated a press release from Hart High School. “

The press release also mentioned Meza’s two-year collegiate career at Northern Arizona University, where he majored in English.

Currently, Meza works for the Hart District as a special education assistant and is set to continue this role at Hart next year.

“Coach Meza believes that through discipline, fundamentals, hard work and competition his student-athletes will gain the necessary life tools to live successful lives both on and off the field. Hart High School welcomes Coach Brad Meza to our family and are excited for the continued success that he will bring to our program,” states the release.

The release added that Meza plans to continue having the Hart baseball program be a tradition of champions .
