The West Ranch Boys Volleyball Team (27-12, 8-4) ended their season on a 3-1 loss against La Costa Canyon (18-19, 3-4) during the finals of the 2024 CIF SoCal Boys Volleyball Championships on Saturday.

Although the Wildcats did not bring home the gold, they made history — West Ranch was the first team in the Santa Clarita Valley to ever make it to a regional championship game.

The Mavericks took the first set 25-13 and the second 25-20.

The Wildcats stole the third with a score of 25-18, but ultimately fell in the fourth at 25-15.

Junior outside hitter Noah Douphner racked up 22 kills for the Wildcats and had a hitting percentage of 0.463.

Douphner also finished the match with five service aces, followed by freshman setter Stephen Choi with three.

The last time West Ranch lost a game this season was against #4 nationally ranked Mira Costa (37-5, 10-0) on April 12, where the Wildcats dropped all three sets (25-13, 25-16, 25-10).

This season, Douphner improved his stats to 602 kills, 267 digs and 82 service aces.

Junior middle blocker Lucas Fico led in blocks with 48, followed by Douphner with 47 and senior middle blocker Lucas Reuter with 45.

Junior setter Jackson Manansala and Choi had 643 and 622 assists, respectively.

Douphner ranked fifth nationally, fourth in California, second in the CIF Southern Section and first in the Foothill League for 556 kills.

Furthermore, the junior is ninth in California for service aces with 77.

Manansala stands in sixth and Choi in seventh for assists in Southern Section Division IV.

Reuter was ranked first in the Foothill League with a 0.339 hitting percentage.

Fico claimed second with 46 blocks and Douphner at third with 45 in the league as well.

Douphner also placed second for 258 digs and junior outside hitter Caleb Sperber came third with 191.
