Five Standout Steelers Through Four Days Of Training Camp
The Pittsburgh Steelers are through their first quarter of training camp, finishing their fourth of 16 practices Sunday. The players will enjoy an off day today before putting on the pads Tuesday for their longest camp stretch, practicing through Sunday. With a moment to catch our breath, here are five...
Steelers' Kyle Allen Takes Subtle Jab At Offense For Previous '7 Shots' Failure
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been trying to figure their new offense out to begin training camp, but that's pretty hard to do when the expected starting quarterback, Russell Wilson, is out due to injury. Because of this, Justin Fields has been leading the first-team offense throughout the first part of training camp. That also means that Kyle Allen has been given the chance to lead the second-team offense, as opposed to playing on scout team like a third-string quarterback usually would. Both have been getting plenty of reps in their usual "seven shots" drill. After Sunday's practice, Allen made an appearance on the Steelers' Training...
Pittsburgh Is Smart To Carefully Handle Russell Wilson’s Calf Injury – Just Ask The Bengals
I get the anxiety that can come with the headline of “Russell Wilson misses the Pittsburgh Steelers first four practices.” Proven and veteran as he is, Wilson is still new to the team in an offense that has been completely revamped. Reps are reps and they’re all valuable. Still, Mike Tomlin has taken the right approach. Being conservative is prudent, ensuring Wilson’s small injury doesn’t become a big one.
Steelers May Have Found Their Answer At Wide Receiver
One of the most talked about things for the Pittsburgh Steelers leading into training camp in 2024 was their wide receiver depth chart. The team made some bold moves earlier this offseason, moving on from a pair of veterans. Allen Robinson was released ahead of free agency, while Diontae Johnson...
Fowler: Steelers Release CB Josiah Scott
The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a roster move less than 24 hours ahead of the team’s first padded practice. They have released CB Josiah Scott, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. There’s no current word on the corresponding move Pittsburgh plans to make now that there’s an open roster...
Irish singer Hozier brings woodsy rhythms to Pavilion at Star Lake
Hozier brought the rhythm and blues to his sold-out Unreal Unearth Tour stop Monday night at the Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown. The Irish singer opened his concert with “De Selby (Part 1)” and “De Selby (Part 2).” Both featured imagery of tiny blue lights like rain in the background.
Program offers free doula care for PA moms
Hiring a doula was once considered a luxury but the president of the PA Doula Commission, Gerria Coffee, said it’s now a necessity and lifesaving health care. “Black women are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause,” Coffee said. To change that statistic the PA...
Class of ’74: 50 Years On
A — n excited crowd of sixty-somethings squeezed into a Mt. Lebanon High School hallway on a cloudy June day. They were too old to be students’ parents, and perhaps a bit too young to be their grandparents. But in any case, the men in golf shirts and women in summer dresses weren’t there to serve as the doting older generation. It was the first event of their 50th reunion weekend, and they were there to re-discover themselves, the class of 1974, long-haired skinny kids in platform shoes and bell bottoms who walked these halls more than 50 years ago.
Reports: Pirates add LHP Jalen Beeks in deal with Rockies
The red-hot Pittsburgh Pirates acquired left-handed pitcher Jalen Beeks from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for minor league left-hander Luis Peralta, MLB.com and USA Today reported Monday. Beeks, 31, appeared in a career-high 45 games out of the bullpen in his first season with Colorado. He is 6-4 this year...
Pirates Power Rankings: Slow and Steady to the Deadline?
The Pirates held their position in the developing National League Wild Card race this week, taking a series against their division rival St. Louis Cardinals before losing two of three against the Diamondbacks. Both series posed crucial for Pittsburgh, as both St. Louis and Arizona sit immediately ahead of them in the standings. As has been the case all year, though, the Buccos didn’t deviate one way or another in the quagmire of a playoff field, playing to a .500 record on the week.

On Tuesday at 8:10 PM ET, Yordan Alvarez and the Houston Astros (55-51) play Bryan Reynolds and the Pittsburgh Pirates (54-52) at Minute Maid Park. The Astros and Pirates will wrap up their three-game series on Wednesday. Stay up to date with the injured lists for both teams in the article below, and find details on how to watch each game.

Before the Pittsburgh Steelers take to the field at Latrobe Memorial Stadium for the annual Friday Night Lights game, fans and families will have plenty to do at Steelers Fest in Latrobe. Held the afternoon before the practice Friday, Aug. 2, Steelers Fest presented by Robindale and hosted by the...
Report: Red Sox Strengthen Pitching Depth with Trade from Pirates
The Boston Red Sox have acquired right-hander Quinn Priester from the Pittsburgh Pirates for infielder Nick Yorke, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. There is no room for Priester in Boston’s rotation, but he will supplement its starting pitching depth. The 23-year-old hasn’t shown much at the major league level, collecting a .646 ERA and 67:40 K:BB over 94 2/3 innings. Priester is a former top-100 prospect with a 3.50 ERA and 25.1 percent strikeout rate during his time at the Double- and Triple-A levels. Yorke was the No. 17 draft pick in 2020. He has a .277/.359/.437 slash line in 370 minor league games, reaching Triple-A for the first time this year. More to come.
Steelers QB Competition: Did Justin Fields catch up to Russell Wilson in first week?
Latrobe, Pa. -- Justin Fields received a unique opportunity by proxy for Russell Wilson’s calf injury: The Steelers got to see him with the first team for an extended time. They experienced the trials and tribulations of the Fields experience. He dazzled with his deep balls all over the yard but made many annoying mistakes. This would all spiral and change from a snap-to-snap basis. It all gave Fields a solid four days rather than one, allowing him to surge forward.
Pirates trade RHP Quinn Priester to Red Sox for IF/OF Nick Yorke in swap of former 1st-rounders
Jul. 29—The Pittsburgh Pirates made their first deal before Tuesday's trade deadline, sending right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester to the Boston Red Sox for infielder/outfielder Nick Yorke in a swap of former first-round picks. The 22-year-old Yorke, selected No. 17 overall in 2020, can play second base and left field and was ranked Boston's No. 6 prospect per MLB Pipeline and No. 14 by ...
Red Sox cash in top prospect trade chip for young Pirates starting pitcher
When the Boston Red Sox traded for James Paxton on July 26, many fans and experts believed he was the only help the rotation would get. But the Red Sox and the Pittsburgh Pirates made an exchange on July 29 that will bring a young, controllable starter to Boston. The Red Sox have traded No. 6 prospect Nick Yorke to the Pirates in exchange for Quinn Priester, a righty starter and 2019 first-round pick. Priester has pitched to a 5.04 ERA with 31 strikeouts and 13 walks in 44.2 innings this year. He's a 6.46 ERA pitcher across both his...
Pirates Provide Update on Two Injuries
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Pirates continue to deal with injuries on this road trip, with two players now dealing with problems. Pirates outfielders Joshua Palacios and Ji Hwan Bae both left the game against the Houston Astros Monday night due to injuries. The Pirates said that Palacios is dealing with left hamstring discomfort and Bae has left knee discomfort and that medical staff are treating both of them.
