Alton Man Receives Prison Sentence
Orange City, Iowa — An Alton man will serve prison time after accepting a plea agreement to several charges in Sioux County District Court. According to the Sioux County Attorney’s Office, 22-year-old Dalton Kade DenHartog Hopcroft was sentenced August 26 for OWI Third Offense, Operating Motor Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent, Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, and a probation violation for previous OWI and Drug Possession convictions.

Man Charged for Fatally Striking Bicyclist With Truck in Cherokee Receives Prison Sentence
Cherokee, Iowa — The man accused of being involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Cherokee two years ago has been sentenced to five years in prison. 30-year-old Casey Herwig was accused of striking a bicyclist while he was driving a pickup truck on December 26th of 2022 at the North 6th Street and West Willow intersection in Cherokee. Authorities discovered the bicyclist, Phillip Watterson, lying in the roadway. Authorities allegedly discovered damage on the front of the vehicle that matched parts found at the scene.
Mustangs rely on camaraderie en route to 7-1 start
SIOUX CITY -- Good play on the volleyball takes trust. That was a lesson that the Morningside University women's volleyball team learned the hard way a couple seasons ago. The 2024-25 school year is off and running as Paton-Churdan students have returned to the classroom.
