KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — One of the best tournaments in the region teed off Friday morning in Kingsport.

The 74th annual Ridgefield Invitationals was headlined by defending Ridgefield Invitational champion Brandon Worley and two-time winner Lucas Armstrong.

Course superintendent and two-time champion Lucas Armstrong on hole 13, par 3, just off the green trying to roll in the birdie but would have to settle for the par. Armstrong shot a 71, while
Kingsport native Taylor Kilgore on hole 16, par 5, would putt one in for the par. He was runner-up last season and finished with a 73.

Chris Wynn tried to stay in the hunt on hole 8, putting for the birdie but coming up short. He would tap that in for the par, and he shot a 79.

16-year-old Blake Adams was one of the guys to catch on hole 16, par three, following a stiff tee shot he rolled it in for the birdie. He was six under and shot a 65 for a 4-stroke lead over Blake Blizard. The second round is on Saturday.
