Everything You Need to Know About the 2024 Mackinac Bridge Walk
The Mackinac Bridge Walk is the event that truly signals the end of summer in Michigan and now we have details about what's happening for this year's walk. The Mackinac Bridge Authority released all of the information for the 2024 walk on July 10, and there are a few changes to be aware of this year - mainly, that the starting point on the St. Ignace side of the bridge has changed. The Bridge Authority has decided to move the starting point on the north end of the bridge from the Mackinac Bridge Authority building to Bridge View Park to cut down on the amount of people walking across I-75.

Strongs Prairie Woman Identified As Victim In Friday’s Adams County Crash
STRONGS PRAIRIE, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A 38-year-old Strongs Prairie woman died and two others were injured in a two-vehicle incident in Adams County on Friday. Around 5:50 p.m. on Friday, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office got a call reporting a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of State Highway 21 and County Highway Z in Strongs Prairie.
St. Marys River oil sheen clean-up finished, source of spill still unknown
UPDATE 7/19/24 1:00 p.m. SAULT STE. MARIE — Clean-up in the St. Marys River wrapped up Friday, four days after a chemical sheen was found on the river. GFL Environmental removed the two sets of floating booms around Kemp Marina and the Museum Ship Valley Camp. The total length of the booms was around 300 feet. Coast Guard officials said mother nature will take care of any remaining traces of sheen. They are still investigating the source of the oily substance.

SAULT STE MARIE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The U.S. Coast Guard Sector Northern Great Lakes is investigating pollution in the St. Marys River near downtown Sault Ste. Marie. The USCG reports at 5 p.m. Monday, the agency received a report of an oily sheen drifting down the St. Marys River. USCG Pollution Responders investigated the area and discovered the sheen near the USCG base, the Museum Ship Valley Camp, and the George Kemp Marine.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) volleyball program has been named a recipient of the 2024 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for maintaining a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale, as announced by the AVCA on Wednesday, with the program's top performer in the classroom being outgoing senior Emilee McDaniel (Manistique, Mich.) who recently completed her final year at LSSU with not only the top GPA among her teammates, but among her entire graduating class, earning the title of valedictorian.
