KINSMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – If you’ve traveled through Kinsman recently, you might have noticed all the patriotic displays lining some of the township’s main streets.

There are 124 American flags along Main, State, and Church Streets. It’s the largest number of flags Kinsman’s American Legion Post has put up since it started handling displaying the flags.

The post also partnered with the Lakelands Association to line the causeway with an additional 120 smaller flags. The flags are mostly paid for through donations. American Legion Post 506 Commander and Township Trustee Greg Leonhard says it’s a beautiful sight to see.

“This is one way I think that we can send a message,” said Leonhard. “Not only to our residents but also to people that are traveling through Kinsman to remember what our flag stands for.”

Leonhard said he hopes the number of flags put up each year continues to grow. The flags are on display from just before Memorial Day to around the second week of August.
