KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — Deputies with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people from Kinston for possession of a stolen vehicle on Sunday.

A N.C. State Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a black SUV at 4:30pm on Sunday, for an expired and fictitious registration plate. When the trooper ran the SUV’s vehicle identification number, the vehicle came back as being reported stolen in 2023.

Deputies with LCSO responded to the area of NC 11 and Felix Harvey Parkway to help the trooper. They arrested the driver, 61 year old Donald Oneal Edwards, and the passenger, 63 year old Tina Ann Williams-Ray. Both Edwards and Williams-Ray were taken to the W.E. Billy Smith Detention Center and given a $5,000 unsecured bond.

Edwards and Williams-Ray were charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle. Edwards had his license revoked and was additionally charged with fictitious vehicle registration, expire vehicle registration and inspection violation.
