    Person struck, hospitalized after Kirkwood train crash

    KIRKWOOD, Mo. – One person is hospitalized after being struck by a train Friday evening in Kirkwood.

    The collision happened around 10 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Big Bend and Geyer roads.

    The conductor told Kirkwood police that the train struck a person who he observed lying on the ground next to the tracks. The train was heading westbound and the collision happened nearly 100 feet away from the intersection.

    The Kirkwood Police Department is investigating the collision, though note that circumstances leading up to the person lying near the tracks are unknown.

    The person struck, not identified by gender, name or age, was a non-Missouri resident, according to Kirkwood police. The victim is being treated for serious injuries at a hospital. No one aboard the train was hurt in the collision.
