Major Utility Pole Construction In Liberal
Beginning Monday, July 29, Southern Pioneer Electric and Sunflower Electric Power Corporation will begin work on a construction project to change out some poles in Liberal. Below is a schedule of the expected project so that customers may plan their commutes accordingly. Maps for each day can be found below as well.
City receives grants to add murals to community
There has been talk among the community for a long time regarding the desire for more public art and soon, that will be one step closer to becoming reality. Last week, Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland announced $1,295,450 was awarded to 108 recipients in the latest round of Kansas Arts Commission (KAC) grant funding. The funds will support museums, arts education, music, dance, visual arts, professional and community theater, creative writing, murals, poetry and other creative projects. Grants were awarded in 42 counties, with funding going to counties in rural locations, including Seward County and the City of Liberal. Public Affairs Director Keeley Moree said the news of the grant is very exciting after so many discussions.
City matches state law in hours of offering CMB sales
It was another quick night for the Liberal City Commission during its most recent meeting Tuesday evening. The first of the two items of new business for the commission was discussion of Ordinance 4618 concerning modifying the hours of cereal malt beverage sales on Sundays. The ordinance amends Chapter 3, Article 1, Section 3-113 of the City of Liberal Code Book to modify the hours of sale for cereal malt beverages (CMBs) on Sundays.
