Seasonal weather with small shower/storm chances for this weekend

Today : Friday will be a warmer day compared to Thursday, but only by about 5-degrees. In fact, it’ll end up being a fairly seasonal and sunny day. Highs will reach the mid-60s for the Cascades and Blues, with low-80s for the foothills. Expect mid-80s for the Kittitas Valley, Yakima Valley, and Lower Columbia Basin. Winds should be fairly light.

Tonight : Clouds will start to build tonight ahead of another small shower and storm chance for Saturday. Skies will turn partly to mostly cloudy into the late evening and overnight. Winds will stay light, and overnight lows will be on-par for late June. It’ll be in the low-50s in the Cascades and Blues, with mid-50s for the Kittitas Valley, Yakima Valley, and the Lower Columbia Basin. Some parts of the foothills could stay in the low-60s overnight.

Extended : Saturday will be a slightly hotter day with small shower and thunderstorm chances. Highs will be about 5-degrees above average (upper-80s for the Tri-Cities). Afternoon heating could fuel a few afternoon/evening showers or thunderstorms, with the best coverage likely around our mountain ridges. We’ll have similar small shower/thunderstorm chances for Sunday and Monday as temperatures stay steady.

We should dry out for Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures staying about 5-degrees above average. This'll start to dry out our fire fuels again. With that in mind, we’re going with a First Alert High Impact Fire Day for Wednesday and Thursday–the fourth of July. On Wednesday, the area of concern will be the Blue Mountains, as fire fuel energy could reach into the 75th percentile for fire season. However, the atmosphere could turn even more volatile by the fourth of July. By then, we’ll add Kittitas and Yakima counties into the First Alert High Impact Fire area. On the fourth of July, fire fuel energy could be into the 81st percentile for Yakima and Kittitas counties, with values being around the 83rd percentile in the Blue Mountains. The bottom-line? Even though this forecast will evolve, already start thinking twice about shooting off those fireworks.
