Walk offered in Lava Beds battlefield
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A walking tour of the Thomas-Wright Battlefield in the Lava Beds National Monument will be offered Saturday, May 11, by the Klamath County Museum. The battle, which occurred April 26, 1873, started when a contingent of Modoc men under the leadership of Scar-faced Charley ambushed an Army patrol south of Captain Jack’s Stronghold.

Dirty Pelican Race and Fun Run May 18
WHEN: Saturday, May 18, 2024, 9:00 a.m. Registration open. WHERE: Moore Park, 740 Lakeshore Drive, Klamath Falls, OR 97601. WHAT: The annual Dirty Pelican Race is set for Saturday, May 18, and takes racers through Moore Park and along Upper Klamath Lake in a bike, paddle, run competition. The Dirty Pelican is an adventure race that can be done as an individual or as part of a three-person team. It starts with 7.5 miles of mountain biking on Link River and Moore Park trails, then participants paddle 1.5 miles on a course in Upper Klamath Lake, and concludes with 3.5 miles of trail running in Moore Park.

WHERE: Eulalona (formerly Kit Carson) Park to John F. Moehl Stadium at Oregon Tech. WHAT: Oregon Tech invites participants of all ages to join the Twilight 5k Fun Run on Friday, May 17, at 5:30 p.m. The fun run will begin at Eulalona Park, with the route proceeding up the trail that runs parallel to Crater Lake Parkway, to El Dorado Ave., up Daggett Ave., and then right on Bryant Williams Way around campus to Oregon Tech’s John F. Klamath County – On Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 12:20 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a three-vehicle crash on Hwy-97, near milepost 281, in Klamath County. The preliminary investigation indicated a southbound Ford Econoline van, operated by Carl Francis Kollmar (44) of Klamath Falls, attempted to turn left into a driveway and entered the path of a northbound Peterbilt commercial motor vehicle, operated by Donny Kart Starr (51) of Turlock (CA).
