WASHINGTON, La. ( KLFY ) – Nearly two months after a sinkhole led to road closures along Hwy. 10 In Washington, residents and drivers are now finding out they’ll have to wait a little longer before repairs finally begin.
In a statement from State Representative Dustin Miller , he says a specially crafted box culvert is being made to be placed under the road. The culvert is not expected to be complete and delivered until early August, with work beginning in July.

AG’s Title IX litigation Kalub Morain, who lives right next to the road closure, says it’s disheartening to hear how long the inconvenience will last. “I feel like Louisiana always gets the end of the stick when it comes to our roads and our schools have a lot more traffic coming right here. Plow trucks, 18 wheelers have to go around this road closure, you know, honking, waking the kids up. The grocery store is down the road. We got to go all the way out the way, an extra five miles out the way just to get to the grocery store. It’s been a huge inconvenience,” says Morain.
He hopes the repairs will lead to more consistent repair work being done along Hwy. 10. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen this road get fixed or worked on other than potholes getting patched and then a month. It’s just the same stuff, you know? I like to see more progress get made, permanent progress, not just holes getting fixed.”
With the new box culvert still being built. Drivers will have to continue to take the detour along Hwy. 359 until the work is complete.
