Bryan TV anchor arrested in domestic violence case

College Station, Tx ( FOX 44 ) – A Bryan television news anchor at KBTX-TV has been arrested and is facing domestic violence charges after Texas A&M police said her boyfriend was repeatedly punched in the face resulting in a broken nose.

Fifty-year-old Heather Renee Kovar was booked into the Brazos County Jail following the Monday night incident.

Texas A&M University Police were dispatched to an apartment in the 100 block of Century Square Drive shortly after 11:30 p.m. Monday on a “welfare concern” call.

A probable cause arrest affidavit stated that the arriving officer met with Kovar who said she had been involved in a “verbal altercation” with her boyfriend. Officers then spoke with the victim who had locked himself in the bathroom of the apartment, saying he had been punched in the face and head about a dozen times with a closed fist.

The affidavit stated the victim told officers he and Kovar had gotten into an argument at a nearby restaurant where they had both been drinking margaritas. The two then left to return to Kovar’s apartment where the argument continued. The affidavit stated the victim told officers he had barricaded himself in the bathroom “out of fear of further injuries.” The affidavit stated the officer observed the victim to have a bloody broken nose, a bite mark on his left arm, and a scratch on his right arm. The officer said the victim also had a bruise on his upper left arm that the victim advised he had received in an altercation with Kovar the previous week.

Kovar was taken into custody and transported to the Brazos County Jail with charges listed as assault causes bodily injury and family violence. Her bond was set at $5,000.
