SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — Click the video above to watch highlights from the Belles’ Saturday doubleheader!

The Angelo State Belles began day two of the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational with an early-morning match versus the Fort Lewis Skyhawks. ASU went 1-1 on Friday, defeating New Mexico Highlands and losing to Central Oklahoma.

The Belles held off the Skyhawks in four sets, winning the final set 25-17.

ASU looked to continue momentum in its second match of the day, facing the Emmanuel Lions. The Belles again took care of business, this time winning in straight sets.

Some key players from Saturday include Ireland Ferguson, Madi Parrish and Hannah Spencer. Ferguson, a defensive specialist, performed well on both sides of the net, most notably via her serves. Parrish, an outside hitter, dominated along the front of the net, often spiking the ball in play and out of opponents’ reach. Spencer, a 6-foot-1-inch middle blocker, used her height to her advantage, becoming a brick wall for opponents all weekend.

Angelo State, the host of the 2024 Kathleen Brasfield Invitational, went 3-1 in the tournament to open the new season. The Belles will travel to face the Western Colorado Mountaineers next on Tuesday, September 10.
