Man accused of assault in front of Downtown Columbia bar booked into Boone County Jail

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man who was accused of assaulting another person on Aug. 10 in front of a Downtown Columbia bar was booked into the Boone County Jail on Wednesday.

David Jeremiah Moore, 19, was charged with first-degree assault. His address is listed as Columbia on Casenet, but was listed as Fulton on the Boone County Jail roster. An initial court appearance was set for Thursday afternoon.

According to the probable cause statement, Columbia police were called to Nash Vegas in the 900 block of East Broadway at 1:39 a.m. Aug. 10. Police found the victim unresponsive on the ground, the statement says. He was brought to University Hospital by ambulance, according to court documents.

A witness allegedly told police that the victim was punched twice by someone who left in a silver sedan, court documents say. Police were told – by someone whose relation to the case was not immediately clear in the probable cause statement -- that the suspect was a man named “DJ” who was allegedly friends with people who worked at the bar.

The victim had a broken jaw and eye socket, the statement says. Police reviewed video that was provided by the bar, which allegedly showed the victim sitting on a flower planter outside of the bar with a woman. Moore is then allegedly seen walking up to the victim, and the victim fell to the ground after they were hit in the head once by Moore, the statement says.

The video then allegedly shows the victim get up and walk toward Moore, and Moore hit him in the head again, court documents say. The victim then fell and hit his head on the sidewalk, court documents say. Moore was identified in the video by a Howard County deputy, according to the probable cause statement.
