Carroll County voters had the opportunity to vote for their District 1 and 2 Commissioners during the August Primary Election.

In District 1, incumbent Everett Shields cruised to victory in the Republican Primary, running unopposed as he seeks another term to serve on the Carroll County Commission. The District 2 Commissioner race was much tighter, as Charles Pence narrowly beat out Kevin Brown by six votes in the Republican Primary. Pence secured 441 votes, while Brown had 435. Greg Flick finished in a distant third in the race, getting 142 votes. Both Pence and Shields do not have Democratic Party challengers in the November General Election.

William Jewell McCoy won the Republican Party race for County Sheriff, winning 70% of the vote over his two challengers. McCoy collected 1,318 votes, while Chad McReynolds had 341 and Joni Yoder had 224. McCoy does not have a Democratic or Libertarian Party challenger on the November ballot.

County Assessor Devin Frazier, Coroner Steven Bittiker, and Surveyor Marcus Magee won their Republican races unopposed and do not have any challengers in November.

In addition to the countywide races, Carroll County voters also showed support to incumbent Sam Graves in his bid to win reelection as a U.S. Representative in Missouri’s 6th Congressional District. Graves beat out three other candidates on the Republican Party ballot, winning the race with 80,495 votes. Graves had strong support in Carroll County, receiving 1,584 votes. The next highest finisher was Freddie Friffin Jr., who had 124 votes in Carroll County. Graves will now face Democratic candidate Pam May and Libertarian candidate Andy Maidment in the November General Election.
