There are many camping areas throughout the community and there will be shuttle services from those campgrounds to the downtown area, which is where the concerts will be held and where all the vendors will be located. A complete RAGBRAI Knoxville map, including all the designated camping areas, shuttle stops, and vendors, can be found here.
Knoxville Hospital and Clinics Reminding the Community to Schedule Well Child Exams and Sports Physicals
Knoxville Hospital and Clinics is reminding the community to schedule their sports physicals and well child exams as the upcoming school year approaches. Whether your child is preparing for school or participating in a sport, it is important for doctors to make sure they are healthy and ready to go. As the school year gets closer, appointments start to fill up fast and it can be hard to get in, so the sooner something can be scheduled, the better. To schedule a child’s well child exams and sports physicals, call the hospital. To download the sports physical form and complete your portion prior to the appointment you can visit this link.

The Knoxville City Council has approved the purchase of a new swing set for Auld Park. This will replace the existing swing set that has been there since 1994. Knoxville Parks and Recreation Director Brandon Nemmers stated in his letter to the council that the current swings are breaking down, which will eventually become a safety issue. The council approved a quote from Play-Pro Recreation for $14,400 for the new set, and the work should be completed this fall. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says this will be a good upgrade for the park.

Pella City Council Moves Ahead on Two Housing Developments
The Pella City Council took several steps to add two new housing developments at their meeting this week. Between the new EPCON and Prairie Ridge West plans, just over 170 new units are in the process of planning. This comes as the Pella City Council was informed that a recent housing analysis conducted earlier this year by Marion County Development identified a need of nearly 1,300 new housing units needed in the next ten years, split between uses of single family structures, options for residents 55 and older, and rentals. For EPCON, an urban renewal plan, an ordinance approving tax increment financing, and a resolution for a TIF extension with Marion County were all approved, and for Prairie Ridge, a planned unit development was given a first reading and moved ahead.
