Many Paths: Students are worth more than results of standardized tests
With SAT and ACT test scores being recently released, it is essential to discuss the tyranny of standardized tests. Since third grade, all the way up to your senior year in high school, students are expected to participate in three, or more hours of testing each year. These have trained students that intellect is found within your test scores. However, these tests have been shown to be inconclusive, and an incomplete judgment of one’s complete schooling.

67 Chargers Earn Academic All-Region 4 for Spring Semester
Sixty-seven Sandburg student-athletes earned Academic All-NJCAA Region 4 honors for the 2024 spring semester. Honorees had to achieve at least a 3.0 grade point average and pass a minimum of 12 credit hours to earn the distinction. Among Sandburg’s recipients, 44 had a GPA of 3.50 or better. Nineteen Chargers had a perfect 4.0 GPA, and each Sandburg team was represented within that group of student-athletes with an unblemished GPA.
Oneida native earns bronze medal at national SkillsUSA Championships
ATLANTA — An Oneida native is now one of the best masons in the country. Gavin Gerard, a student at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, took home the bronze medal in masonry at the SkillsUSA Championships in Atlanta at the end of June. With that win, he became the college's first medalist at a SkillsUSA national competition.
