KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knoxville couple’s tropical honeymoon in Jamaica turned into a nightmare as the newlyweds are now stuck in Montego Bay until Hurricane Beryl passes through.

Casey and Warner Haley spoke with ABC’s Terry Moran during ABC News Live on Wednesday, sharing that they are happy to be together, but the hurricane and trying to get our of Jamaica has been ‘absolutely a nightmare.’

“I called the airlines that I went through, to get here. And the ones I was planning on to use to get out of here, and I called them all up, and I said, ‘hey, guys, me and my wife need to get out of here now, please.’ And, and all they said was, ‘hey, our flights are full. Nothing we can do.’ So we went to the airport just to make sure. And every counter, just like they told us, they said, ‘hey, every flight is full. You can’t get off this island. This is it,'” Warner Haley said.

Warner went on to say that they had to bunker down and buy supplies from a gift store because of how crowded the grocery stores were.

“There’s no way you can get in and even get anything at the moment,” Warner explained.

Casey Haley shared that the couple got married on Saturday before heading on their honeymoon, and while people at their wedding reception had concerns that there was a storm, they thought the storm would pass by the island to the south.

“It was only yesterday at lunchtime that we realized, oh, this is getting this is getting serious, and it’s actually headed for us and not going to pass this at the South like we thought it would,” Casey Haley said.

Around 1 p.m., the Associated Press reported that wind and rain were already picking up in Jamaica. At least 6 people have died as a result of the hurricane before it arrived in Jamaica, according to the AP.

ABC reports that the newlyweds are stuck in Montego Bay until Hurricane Beryl passes. During the interview at 1:30 p.m., Warner shared that there were strong winds and waves happening outside.
