$2 million Powerball ticket sold at Knoxville grocery store

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One lucky lottery player in Knoxville won big on Saturday.

The Tennessee Education Lottery announced that someone won $2 million by matching five of the six numbers drawn and using the Power Play option.

The winning ticket was sold at the Publix grocery store at 2010 Town Center Boulevard. Two $50,000-winning tickets were also sold in Nashville and Loretto.

No additional information is available until the prizes are claimed, according to a release.

Powerball drawings are held three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

The Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation operates entirely from the revenue it generates through the sale of its products. Since Jan. 20, 2004, the Lottery has raised more than $7.5 billion to fund designated education programs, including college grants, scholarships, and K-12 after-school programs.
