KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ( WATE ) — Knoxville Police detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding a shooting in the Lonsdale area Sunday night that they believe involved a group of juveniles.

A 16-year-old was injured with a minor, non-life-threatening gunshot wound, but was reportedly uncooperative with investigators.

According to KPD, just after 8 p.m. Sunday night, KPD officers responded to the 2100 block of Cornelia Cartwright Avenue .

“Officers found multiple shell casings in the street in that area,” a news release from KPD states. “A 16-year-old male was also found on scene, who sustained a minor gunshot wound to his back. The victim was transported to the UTMC for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.”

No other injuries were reported, but a residence and two cars were struck by gunfire, according to KPD.

“It appears that a group of individuals, which included the victim and were likely juveniles, were shooting guns when the victim was grazed by a bullet,” KPD stated. “The victim was uncooperative and refused to provide information that could prove helpful for responding officers.”
