Knoxville has experienced some highs and lows regarding business news this past week.

The big low is that Raven Records & Rarities announced it will close at the end of August. The record store portion first opened in 1985 on Cumberland Avenue, and moved in 2012 to its current spot at 1200 N. Central St. Co-owners Jay Nations and Jack Stiles decided to close the store on their own terms. But don't worry, Nations will still sell records in a couple of vintage shops across town, including Retrospect Vintage across the street!

The big high is that Central Filling Station is coming back for a day . The popular food truck park closed in 2023. However, the music festival Sunset on Central will reopen the venue Aug. 24 as part of the festival with music, food trucks and flowing beer. Plus, the food truck park could come back on a quarterly or monthly basis for events, according to Yee-Haw Brewing Company General Manager Charles Ellis.

Speaking of beer, Preservation Pub received a high honor : USA Today named the bar one of its Bars of the Year 2024 . The bar opened in 2002 and has been chugging along ever since, especially after the city revitalized Market Square. If you spend an evening in Preservation Pub , you'll enjoy the smoky atmosphere, cheap beers and some of the loudest bands in Knoxville . All of those reasons and more make it one of the best bars in Knoxville, Tennessee and the country.

    See y'all later!
